Nathan Flanagan

Nathan Flanagan is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi, and a Captain with the Tupelo Fire Department, where he has proudly served for the past ten years. Before beginning his firefighting career, Nathan earned his degree from the University of Mississippi. He is married to his wife, Melissa, and together they have a daughter, Natalie.

When he’s not on duty, Nathan enjoys spending time outdoors and giving back to his community. Guided by strong faith and a deep commitment to family, he brings the same dedication and integrity to his role at Southern States Fire as he does to serving the citizens of Tupelo.

Brad Smith

Brad Smith began his fire service career in 1983 as a volunteer firefighter for the Houston Volunteer Fire Department. In 1989, he became a career firefighter in Houston. He was also appointed as the County Fire Coordinator for Chickasaw County, Mississippi, at that time. Following a major ice storm in February of 1994, Brad was appointed as the Emergency Management Director for Chickasaw County, while remaining at the Houston Fire Department. He held both positions
until November 2009 when he went to work for the Mississippi Insurance Department/Office of the State Fire Marshal as the State Deputy Fire Coordinator. Brad was promoted to the position of State Fire Coordinator in 2014 and remained there until his retirement at the end of June.

Throughout his career, Brad was and remains an active member of the Mississippi Fire Fighter’s Association, Mississippi Fire Chief’s Association, and the Mississippi Burn Camp Foundation. He served for multiple years in various board positions throughout his career, including President of the Mississippi Fire Fighter’s Association.

Brad’s life passion has always been the fire service, and now he’s excited to begin a new chapter in that passion by serving those who serve others at Southern States Fire. Brad currently resides in Raymond, Mississippi, with his wife Susan and their two canine kids.
